We Believe

The Bible

We believe that the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are God’s revelation to all men and women. They are inspired by God’s Holy Spirit, written without error in the original manuscripts, and have been preserved as a trustworthy and complete revelation of God’s will for the justification, sanctification, and glorification of human beings. Consequently, we regard the Bible as the final authority on all matters about which it speaks.

God

We believe that there exists only one God, Almighty and Sovereign, who has created all things and sustains all things. He is infinite and perfect in holiness, power, wisdom, justice, goodness, and love. He eternally coexists in three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

God the Son – Jesus Christ

We believe in Jesus Christ’s eternal existence as God, His incarnation by means of the virgin birth, His perfect life, His death on the cross as the substitutionary atonement for sin, His literal, bodily resurrection and ascension, His present ministry of intercession in Heaven, and His personal, visible, bodily return to earth—accompanied by the bodily resurrection of believers to heaven and unbelievers to hell.

God the Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit reveals and glorifies Jesus Christ. He convicts men and women of their sins, draws them to God, and imparts unto them new life. He indwells believers and seals them until the day of redemption. He gives them spiritual gifts for ministry and empowers them to live a life pleasing to God.

Men and Women

We believe that God created both men and women in his image. Men and women were created perfect, yet chose to sin, and in making that choice, plunged all of humanity into sin, guilt, suffering, and death. Since that time, all human beings are totally depraved by nature from birth, are unable to save themselves, and are in need of eternal salvation that only God, through Jesus Christ, can bestow upon them.

Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace, a free gift of God apart from works. Salvation involves justification, sanctification, and glorification. The substitutionary death of Jesus Christ and His bodily resurrection provide the only ground for forgiveness of sins, and the transformation processes that God purposes for all who partake of His salvation. Only those who trust in Jesus Christ alone are born of the Holy Spirit and are true members of the Church; only they will spend eternity with Christ. Genuine salvation will be manifested by faith and repentance—a changed life.

The Church

We believe that all true believers make up the family of God worldwide and should assemble themselves in local congregations for worship, prayer, fellowship, teachings, and ministry centered around the Great Commission. Believers are commanded to be baptized as a testimony of their new birth and to regularly partake of the Lord’s Supper as symbolic remembrance of Christ’s death on the cross.

Ministry to Others

We believe that all believers are commanded to not only carry the gospel to the lost, but to disciple all who believe toward maturity into Christ-likeness. We believe that effective ministry to others acknowledges the complexity of men and women as physical, social, psychological, and spiritual beings. As such, we believe that effective ministry includes the goals of helping others move toward personal wholeness, interpersonal competence, mental maturity, and spiritual maturity.
